Breakfast of Champions

Well what better way to start the day than with the Parisian breakfast of champions - Chocolate Croissants or "pain au chocolat".

Fuelled up it was time to do the tourist thing and jump on the bus to do the sightseeing thing from the open double decker bus. While it is painfully touristy it is quite good value for 2 days and does give you a better view than the metro which is all underground. The main drawback is quite often being near tourists that originate from the USA. I think I am yet to hear an American that can speak at a volume lower than 11 over the past day and a half.

With that petty rant to one side, we enjoyed a nice stroll along the Champs de Elysee which is the famous Paris boulevard. We took a look in some of the more famous shops along the strip, however, inflation due to the euro has ruined a lot of the shopping appeal.

By the time we got to the end, it was time for lunch and while it might sound odd, so far in Paris we have enjoyed more beer than wine. France does appreciate beer as much as wine and the very flash Culture Biere was where we decided to stop for lunch. It was a very nice meal which was a welcome relief from the aforementioned plane food.

After a couple of beers, the mood for walking was replaced by the mood for sitting on the bus and taking in the sites. But when you are in a city as nice as Paris, it is hardly a crime.
