Coming Down

After an uncomfortable sleep and still quite full stomach, it was time to face the day. Bit of a slow start to the last day of Reims and on the way to the last of our tours, Mumm (the Champagne of Grand Prix Winners), we decided to take in 5 minutes of history and tour the Notre Dame de Reims which was used for the coronation of Kings. While we think it is similar to the one in Paris, it is unfortunately not in the same state courtesy of war. That said, it is still a very impressive building and the stained glass is very that remains is still a great sight.

The final tour was Mumm and to be honest, I think we have both had enough Champagne tours if not for a lifetime, at least for a while. The tour of Mumm was not as slick as some of the others, but the tasting at the end made it worthwhile. The end result of the tasting? Easily the best Champagne was the La Grand Dame, Carolyn preferred Mumm out of the “normal” champagnes and I preferred the Piper.

The hardest part of saying good bye is the wonderful Les Crayeres. They really do know how to spoil their guests and were not snooty or condescending in the slightest which was great.
